What God wants

July 30, 2009

This came from Austin Gardner’s blog, I enjoyed it, thought you might too.

1Timothy 2:3-6 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

1John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men

17 Years

July 25, 2009

I am enjoying spending time with my bride today. Today we are celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary. Lina, I just want to say how much I love and cherish you. You are always a help and blessing to me. You are my children’s mother, my lover, and best of all my closest  friend. I am so blessed to be married to someone as wonderful as you. We can share any and everything together. Thanks for letting me spend my life with you. I hope that we can grow old together, and if God permits, die together.

Supernatural

July 16, 2009

This comes from Key to the Missionary Problem page 88. An excerpt from a speech by Hudson Taylor. “God Himself is the great source of power. Furthermore, God’s power is available power. We are a supernatural people, born again by a supernatural birth, kept by a supernatural power, sustained on supernatural food, taught by a supernatural Teacher from a supernatural Book. We are led by a supernatural Captain in right paths to assured victories.”
I think that many of us today to not understand the power that is right before us, and is available to us. It is time that we start believing on our Supernatural God.

Who Matters to You?

July 11, 2009

1 Thessalonians 2:8 “So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.”

In this fast paced life we live, we want everything to be easy and convenient. Not wanting anything to cost or take our time. Here in 1 Thes. Paul is writing to the believers in Thessalonica, and explaining how much he loved and cared for them. He makes a statement that is very powerful; “we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls.” Paul says, “ not the gospel of God only,”  like he was diminishing the power of the gospel. He was not doing this, but rather emphasizing that they were willing  to give their own souls (their own lives). Many of us want to throw a piece of literature containing the gospel at someone, with no desire to take the time necessary, making sure they understand, or asking if they have any questions. A rich father does not truly love his children by only throwing money or things their way, neither can we as Christians show our love without sacrificial giving of ourselves.

2 Cor. 12:15    1 John 3:16

No Options

July 9, 2009

When it comes to evangelizing the world, there are no options. Many think that we can pick and choose the areas of the world that need the gospel, but the facts are we cannot. God has promised us His power when we go into all the world. Acts 1:8 states it very clearly, in Jerusalem, and Judea, and Samaria, and the uttermost part. Notice the ands in the verse. That means at the same time, not then or later, but and, signifying simultaneous work. If you are looking for a way out of helping getting the gospel to all the world, you are sadly mistaken. Your part could be different from your neighbor, but nonetheless the responsibility is the same.

Networking

July 8, 2009

Sitting here in the office talking about how we can influence others for the cause of missions. Networking is a great way to do this. I think all who are concerned about world missions, need to quit worrying about who gets the credit, and partner together to get more folks out in the field. Any ideas please let me know by commenting on here or sending me a personal e-mail at wayne@visionbaptist.com

Missionary Boot Camp

June 30, 2009

I would like to let everyone know about a great opportunity next summer in New York City. Our Generation is going to have an International Missionary Boot Camp at Wadsworth Avenue Baptist Church. For those 18 and older who have a desire to work in missions, and want to learn from experienced missionaries, this is your chance. The tentative dates are Aug. 3-9, 2010. Come see the world and experience a life changing week. We will have work shops in the mornings and evenings, along with real international ministry during the days. Don’t miss out! Start planning now for this chance of a lifetime.
